I love great, pithy, poignant quotes. Here are some of my favorite quotes on the topic of friendship.

Please share any quotes or thoughts you have on friendship in the comments!

  1. One of my favorites has always been an Arabian proverb: "A friend is one to whom one can pour out the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take it and sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and, with the breath of kindness, blow the rest away."

  2. “When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth.”
― Jess C. Scott, The Intern

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”
    ― C.S. Lewis

“How many slams in an old screen door? Depends how loud you shut it. How many slices in a bread? Depends how thin you cut it. How much good inside a day? Depends how good you live 'em. How much love inside a friend? Depends how much you give 'em.”
    ― Shel Silverstein

I told you I'd comment eventually! :) I found the first two quotes on this website: http://www.goodreads.com/quotes/tag/friendship?page=1 The third one two honestly. But, the Silverstein poem we have read to Lincoln many times. We absolutely love it. It is a great poem about friendship and marriage, and everything in really. Fun weekly post idea, Melanie! :)
